Here is Mr. Patrice Rioux’s model-house project which started all this chronicle already ten years ago, in August 1989. He wanted to know what kind of look would give the columns, the outlines of the front and garage doors as well as the windows outlines. You may notice that he has widened the masonry window sills in order to receive the 7’’ pilasters at each side of the windows.
Self-criticism : Vinyl columns

Context
When I met Mrs. Legault, she had been looking for four (4) years for somebody to entrust with the building of a canopy in front of her house. ‘’Réno-Dépôt’’, a building materials centre gave her my details in order to contact me. |
When we met the first time, Mrs. Legault had already a very clear idea of what she was interested in. She had gathered several pages of various decoration magazines showing different types of "New-England" style canopies, and having very nice Christmas decorations ! |
We chose together the design of a canopy which would fit best her type of house. |
Then, a sketch of the whole house façade has been proposed together with an appropriate framing of the windows and a frieze on the edge of the roof to embellish the whole. My suggestions were far from being imposed on her; they were mere visual suggestions. |
Concerned about the harmony of the house, I wanted to avoid to realize the canopy only as, according to me, the whole house would have suffered by it. |
After she has approved the new look, detailed working drawings have been made and the works began pretty soon. |
This is why I was not able to get a picture-before as the workmen were already on the site when I arrived. |
