I discovered the world of Polymer Decorative Moulded Products1 in June of 1989. This was at a time when this new industry was practically unknown in our construction and home remodeling world. I felt like a pioneer when it was needed, on several occasions, to prove with concrete examples, that this material could be durable and practically maintenance free in this Northern Canadian Climate. Ingenuity was required in order to uncover ideas and creative designs that could break this natural resistance in the market place.
Manufacturing or copying a product is relatively easy in this industry… Manufacturing a good product requires technical knowledge and it becomes more difficult to reach a high level of quality2… but discovering what could be manufactured and would become popular, this is where talent and research make the difference.
Never, had I expected that one-day the world of renovation would lead me to develop a passion for both exterior and interior architectural decoration. I had given up hope, when I was in my twenties, about developing my artistic talents for painting, drawing and architecture for I believed at the time that this natural talent could make me live the painful experiences of certain artists of times gone by!!
My beginnings in architectural design started suddenly in August 1989. This was at the request of a contractor who asked me: "What would my new model home look like with mouldings, columns and surrounds for the doors and windows?" My first sketch of his "Heritage" model was made on the kitchen table and was the beginning of an experience, which has lasted ever since.
Thereafter several architects, draftsmen, technicians, decorators and customers have shared their knowledge and experiences with me. Over the years I was able to build a fairly good architectural reference library.
